Nokturno, a sound–visual installation presented at the ROR Festival.
In darkness, where sight is obstructed, listening begins to speak. With the installation Nokturno, Martina Testen and Simon Šerc explore the nocturnal world that reveals itself only after sunset. Through field recordings of nocturnal animals and subtle sonic transitions, they create a space for quiet observation and deepened perception of nature. The central motif of the installation’s visual component is mycelium—the forest network of fungal threads that enables communication and the flow of nutrients between plants. This hidden ecosystem symbolizes natural interconnectedness, which can also be extended to the level of society. The installation follows the rhythm of the night—from the fading of light to the first dawn—and invites reflection on coexistence, invisible connections, and the fragility of the space that shapes us on a daily basis. Nokturno is a nocturnal continuation of the sound album Biodukt and at the same time a tribute to nature, which never truly falls silent—not even in darkness.
